video lag

Have any of you guys had, or seen a slight lagging of pictures in your videos? It doesnt happen all the time, but it does happen a lot through even a small file. I am using all current codecs, made for vista and am still having this problem. I would try using VLC but it lags my pc up heaps, compared to when I ran VLC on XP and had no lag at all
